Penang_lang The construction is for the Granito@Permai affordable housing project at Jalan Lembah Permai, the Malay Mail Online reported. The development consists of a 49-storey building with two towers and 12 levels of car parks.
Property Guru website listed Granito @ Permai as the latest development by BSG Property, the property development arm of Boon Siew Group.

Aberdeen keep selling. Do they know something we don't?
10/01/2018 11:18
Fabien Extraordinaire Ya, need a lot of patience. Orient is dirt cheap, assets not revalued ages ago..
10/01/2018 13:27
Jon Choivo From a value standpoint, its a no brainer.

Now, i can think of things i would do if i was in loh kian chong shoes that is good for the company and the shareholders, long or short term wise.

Id talk to aberdeen about buying their entire holdings are prevailing market price through open market.

Then i would sell or develop the land, not all at once, but at an increasing but sustainable pace.

Then the palm oil, i will talk to united plantations, the best plantation company in the world, for some kind of JV, letting them manage their plantation, with the financial backing of oriental.

Having said that, kian chong is competent and conservative. Depending on who you are, his conservative-ness may be a pro or a con. Im fine with it. I know my money safe, down sides very little, upsides, well if he aggressive abit, upside sure alot d. I can wait.
10/01/2018 14:19
newbie4444 So many selling RM 5 better?
11/01/2018 04:40
kakashit Ya, Honda SG old stocks cleared dy, new production fully complied with Euro Emmission standard.

Honda Malaysia for sure is doing good with the newly open Johor 4S centre. Honda has taken over Toyota for the first seat in the non-national car segment for a long time.

So far I dun forsee Toyota has any new model that can compete with Honda, Sienta already sienz liao, lol

Plantation is a no brainer, it will grow itself.

the hospital is also closing the breakeven gap.

SG hotel already refurbished.

Most importantly Japan Yen borrowing is depreciating with the strenthening of Ringgit, thus less debt amount to repay.

So what are u waiting for? forget about Aberdeen.
11/01/2018 11:46
great Aberdeen kept selling, but slowly. Look like in no hurry to dispose a huge quantity but nevertheless cutting their stake. Before they achieve their target, they would likely give in to the price you want.
13/01/2018 13:02
pakatan_harapan2 Under Pakatan tax Oriental RM 1 billion to avoid GST.
15/01/2018 11:59
Jamie Ng Since the valuations is cheap, can I buy and hold for long term?
17/01/2018 22:13
great Boring stock for years aldy. Keep going down. You must have the gut to hold, Substantial shareholder like Aberdeen kept selling abeit slowly. Until they achieved their targe, the price is not going to go up. Testing your endurance. Valuation is attractive
19/01/2018 12:18
sleepingtiger Finding support at 6.50 though Aberdeen keep on throwing.
Fundamentally sound stock.
Sentimentally Abredeen is fed up as it does not perform well for its shareholder.
24/01/2018 16:18
FAIRnREASONABLE Earning for this financial year should be very good, with PE likely to be just below 10.
Hopefully, better dividend above 6 sen will be declared the next quarter.
27/01/2018 12:46
great Think so n hope so
02/02/2018 16:27
FAIRnREASONABLE Just 6 sen again.

21/03/2018 21:02
Fabien Extraordinaire Aberdeen has lost their patience. still selling
04/05/2018 15:43
FAIRnREASONABLE Pleased that 20 sens special dividend was declared in addition to 8 sens usual dividend.
Solid counter for long-term investors.
05/05/2018 21:22

kyy_superinvestor Quarter report released but lower yoy
30/05/2018 19:17
Jon Choivo Fairly decent set of report. Quite ok.

Im thinking of buying more lol. But really no money.
30/05/2018 21:37
FAIRnREASONABLE Good share price recovery despite general market down.
05/06/2018 23:22
tsohg why forex loss so much at plantation segment in q1 2018?
06/06/2018 23:38
Fabien Extraordinaire added more at 6.50. i like that the BV has grown above RM10 now.
07/06/2018 10:54
Jon Choivo RNAV is closer to 20.

I just found eksons. Looks ok, selling at less than net cash. But shit business though.
07/06/2018 20:12
Fabien Extraordinaire i don't know much about eksons. but i have similar experience before. got my money stucked in FACBInd, trading significantly below net cash. but business is unexciting.

lost my patience after 4 years and liquidated at decent profit
08/06/2018 14:36
Fabien Extraordinaire wishful thinking is maybe in few years to come when its heathcare segment starts to contribute a stable and significant source of income, perhaps a spin-off?
09/06/2018 10:15
Fabien Extraordinaire most of its debts are in yen to finance the plantation business. therefore appreciation of yen will have much negative impact. anyway, its FX translation losses.

tsohg why forex loss so much at plantation segment in q1 2018?
09/06/2018 10:22
Fabien Extraordinaire possible, as their assets have not been revalued since the 1970s. if u add in the hotels as well.

Jon Choivo RNAV is closer to 20.
09/06/2018 10:30
Fabien Extraordinaire perhaps Oriental can follow the footsteps of Sime Darby by unlocking much of the hidden assets, make it leaner and at the same time increase the dividends payout, ROE etc.

but seriously, you won't find a cash generating machine elsewhere that is comparable to Oriental
09/06/2018 10:33
FAIRnREASONABLE Anyone can comment on the financial impact of the land reclamation in Melaka?
Will it contribute significantly?
10/06/2018 16:25
FAIRnREASONABLE Hotel business in Malaysia is generally not profitable.
I am pleasantly surprised that OHB's hotel division contributes decent profit.
10/06/2018 16:46
Jon Choivo I decided there is not need for me to go into net cash companies that have shit business.

When they are decent businesses that are more undervalued even on a NTA basis. Such as orient, plenitude etc.

However, im always very tempted to just buy like 1-2% just because its so cheap and it just feels like picking up free money.

Fabien Extraordinaire assets play consists 25% of my portfolio

but these companies must be profitable and at least decent growth
10/06/2018 17:45
Jon Choivo Other than Orient and OSk, what do you have? For net asset plays?
10/06/2018 19:38
Fabien Extraordinaire Insas

Other than Orient and OSk, what do you have? For net asset plays?
10/06/2018 20:34
FAIRnREASONABLE Both Orient and OSK fulfill
1) High NTA, resulting in low Price/Book Value (NTA) less than 0.5
2) Profitable consistently, resulting in PE less than 10
3) Diversified incomes, resulting in less volatility in combined business sectors
4) Consistent dividends, resulting in better return (in addition to price appreciation) than fix deposits in bank
5) Future growth

Of course, confidence in top management & controlling shareholder is another top consideration. Trust deficit in top management often leads to "undervalued" share price
10/06/2018 20:38
Jon Choivo Id suggest you take a look at plenitude, daiman and KSL as well.

Posted by Fabien Extraordinaire > Jun 10, 2018 08:34 PM | Report Abuse

11/06/2018 20:18
Jon Choivo Tropicana is also decent.
11/06/2018 20:20
Fabien Extraordinaire Oh, I owned Plenitude and Daiman 6 or 7 years ago. Liquidated my positions with decent profit. I also made good profit from Kuchai, KSeng, Goldis and PMCorp.

So assets play have been quite a success to me personally.

11/06/2018 20:26
Fabien Extraordinaire But i have to say need a lot of patience. Perhaps i'm lucky.

Not so much patience for FACBInd though. Hahaha...gave up on the company. Return over 3 years barely beat FD.

Oh ya, i also made decent profit on Paramount.

I think that's all i had in regards to assets play, over my 9 years of investing journey.

By the way, I also owned TA.
