PETALING JAYA: Housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming’s aide is likely to be fielded as a DAP candidate in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

According to sources, speculation is rife that Nga’s aide Pang Sock Tao would be announced as the DAP candidate at a party event in Kuala Kubu Baharu at 8pm on Wednesday (April 24).

Meanwhile, other party sources who are privy to campaign preparations for Kuala Kubu Baharu also did not deny the speculation.

"Wait for the announcement," said the source briefly.

The Star has reached out to Pang over the matter.

Sources had previously said that there were several potential DAP candidates to represent the unity government, among them Selangor party deputy chairman Gobind Singh’s political secretary Mandeep Singh.

There was also talk that DAP may field a female municipal councillor at the by-election.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu seat became vacant on March 21, when its assemblyman, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, died.

Nomination Day was on Saturday (April 26), while polling was fixed for May 11.
