KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has issued a firm directive reminding its officers and the public to ensure that mosques and surau remain free from any political activities amid the ongoing Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaigns.

In a statement, JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad emphasized the responsibility of all personnel overseeing mosques and surau to uphold their sanctity and keep them free from political influences or partisan propaganda.

Shahzihan stressed the importance of personnel discharging their duties with honesty and sincerity, adhering to resolutions and directives issued by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais).

"Mosque officials, teachers including assistant marriage registrars must adopt a professional stance and adhere to the resolutions and directives made by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais)," he said.

"We wish to remind that the Decree of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor and the resolutions of Mais regarding this matter are still in force and must be fully complied with," he added.

Shahzihan warned that any violations observed would be met with appropriate action by Jais in accordance with the provisions outlined by the law.
