KUALA KUBU BARU: DAP national publicity secretary leader Teo Nie Ching has criticised Pas, highlighting the party's apparent reluctance to accept the popularity of vernacular schools among parents.

This sentiment arose from Pas' questioning of the educational background of Pang Sock Tao, the unity government candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Teo noted that PAS leaders themselves sent their children to vernacular schools like Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC), making their stance perplexing.

"This indicates Pas' ongoing resistance towards vernacular schools and parents' choices. Hence, I wonder if the Kuala Kubu Baharu constituents want to support a candidate from the Perikatan Nasional," she said during a walkabout in Kuala Kubu Baharu with Pang, earlier today.

It was previously reported that Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had questioned Pang's vernacular educational background and academic qualifications.

The dispute was then put to rest when Pang took to her Facebook account to share her Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination slips.

The result slips showed that the DAP member who is also former press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming scored straight As in her UPSR and SPM examinations.

Following this, Ahmad Fadhli "apologised" for raising the issue and hoped that the issue would prolong until the polling day on May 11.

Meanwhile, Teo also hoped that the opposition party could engage in mature politics ahead of the polling day.

She also said that the attacks by the opposition, Perikatan Nasional, towards Pakatan Harapan (PH) were not a match for the party's ideas to bring new development in Kuala Kubu Baharu.

She emphasised that PH's vision for the area far outweighed the opposition's attacks.

"I hope they will embrace a new and mature political approach," she added.
