KUALA LUMPUR: Follow instructions and help make the voting process for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election a smooth and orderly one, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister and PKR secretary-general said the public should trust that the Election Commission (EC) would ensure a smooth process during Tuesday's (May 7) early voting and polling on May 11.

"We are well aware that tomorrow is early voting and I take this opportunity to remind all that as a country that practices the democratic system, we have to put our trust in the EC to ensure the process will be conducted smoothly.

"For those voting tomorrow, I urge them to obey all instructions from the EC to ensure that the process runs without incident.

"This is also our advice to all when regular voters perform their civic responsibility on May 11.

"On behalf of the Home Ministry, and in particular the police, we give our assurance that all steps will be taken to ensure that security is maintained," Saifuddin said when met at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (NatSec) Asia 2024 exhibitions here on Monday (May 6).

A total of 625 policemen and 238 military personnel members, as well as their spouses, will cast their ballots on Tuesday (May 7) as early voters in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

On the issue of companies linked to Israel participating in the exhibitions, the minister said that was a question for the organisers.

"For that, let the organisers respond," said Saifuddin.

Bersatu previously called on the government to prohibit the participation of two companies allegedly involved in supplying weapons to the Israeli military.

Bersatu international bureau chief Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah reportedly expressed his party's concern over the involvement of the companies in the event.
