JOHOR BARU: The investigation papers regarding the shoes with the contentious logo resembling the word "Allah" in Arabic script have been handed over to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).

Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid (pic) said the Johor Islamic Religious Department is still awaiting an update and will leave the decision on the next course of action to the AGC.

“Either the case will be brought to court, or the AGC will decide whether to pursue further investigations; the religious department enforcement team has done its part, and we leave any further action for the AGC to decide,” he said.

He said this at the Johor Islamic Religious Department Hari Raya Open House at Pusat Islam Iskandar Johor on Monday (May 6).

Mohd Fared added that the police are still keeping all of the confiscated shoes to help with the investigation.

On April 8, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the police had seized 1,145 pairs of shoes from Vern’s Holding Sdn Bhd as part of their probe.

The shoes were seized in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kedah. There have been no arrests made.
