KUALA KUBU BAHARU: The Election Commission (EC) has yet to summon Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming following complaints of RM5.21 million allocation for Hulu Selangor residents.

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said he would leave the decision to summon Nga to the next EC chairman following his retirement, this month.

"Not yet (belum), we will leave this (the decision to summon Nga) to the next chairman (kepimpinan).

"I will not be here anymore (by then)," he said when met by reporters during a visit to Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia for early voting, today.

It was previously reported that Nga was ready to cooperate with EC on the complaint lodged against him over the allocation of RM5.21 million given to the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS), last month. (Reference: https://www.nst.com.my/amp/news/nation/2024/04/1039605/housing-and-local...)

Nga said this in response to complaints lodged by Perikatan Nasional (PN) who urged EC to take action on the matter.

Meanwhile, when asked about the petition that PN plans to file if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, Abdul Ghani said the party can do so if they wish to.

"It is up to the leadership (of PN) to file a petition after 21 days of the by-election result.

"But on the EC side, we will proceed at the court (if there is any election petition)."

Yesterday, PN said it will file an election petition if PH wins the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election slated for May 11.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who is also the opposition chief whip, claimed it has evidence of government misconduct which could allegedly sway voters in the polls. (Reference: https://www.nst.com.my/news/politics/2024/05/1047112/takiyuddin-pn-will-...
