KUALA LUMPUR: The physical work to redevelop KL Sentral, a major transportation hub connecting several modes of transport, is expected to start by the end of this year, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

The redevelopment works, said Loke, is necessary since KL Sentral has experienced 'tremendous' growth over the past 20 years and that the area has become congested.

"The area will be redesigned, rebuilt, and repurposed so that it becomes sophisticated. We hope after redevelopment work has been completed, there will be better traffic flow in the area," he told reporters here today (May 10).
