PETALING JAYA: Social Security Organisation (Socso) has come forward to assist in terms of the initial treatment or rehabilitation needed by national winger Faisal Halim.

Majoriti reported Socso Group chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed saying that the discipline of Selangor FC and Red Giants FC Sdn Bhd in contributing under the Workers' Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) and the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800) is a big factor where Faisal is eligible for Socso protection.

However, the type of initial treatment and rehabilitation assistance will be drawn up after the latest information on Faisal's condition is received from the hospital.

Checks found the contribution for Selangor FC using the name Red Giants FC SDN.BHD has been a regular one until the latest contribution of April 2024.

"The benefits that will be received will be known after we receive a complete report regarding the incident.

"He is eligible to receive early treatment and rehabilitation assistance because he contributed to both schemes which are part of the occupational disaster and disability schemes," he said.

The National Sports Institute will bear the full rehabilitation cost for Faisal, who

suffered injuries as a result of being splashed with acid at a shopping centre near Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor last Sunday (May 5).

Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh was previously quoted as saying that the ISN will devise a special program to help Faisal's recovery process before he can return to action on the field.

The Raja Muda Selangor (RMS) who is also Selangor FC chairman, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah also agreed to bear the cost of Faisal's medical treatment to ensure that he receives the best treatment.
