He graduated from Boston University with a B.Sc in Business Administration with Summa Cum Laude and B.A in Economics with Magna Cum Laude in May 1987. He was sponsored unto a one (1) year Corporate Finance Executive (CFE) Programme at London Business School, London from October 1987 to June 1988. He obtained his M.Sc in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management, U.S A. in February 1991. He was awarded the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Management Consultancy (Adv. Dip. C) from Henley Management College, United Kingdom in April 2000. He also qualified as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP ) in February 2003. He won a competitive scholarship for the 3 weeks Executive Development Programme (EDP) at Henley Management College, United Kingdom in October 2004. He obtained his Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A) for Henley Management College, Brunel University, United Kingdom in March 2005.

He pursued a Merchant Banking career with Hill Samuel Bank London from year 1987 to 1989. He then joined Bankers Trust London as a Merger and Acquisition Associate. He joined Menang Corporation (M) Berhad on 25 February 1991 and was made Executive Director on 1 April 1991. He was appointed as Group Executive Director on 1 January 1992. He administers the operations, finance and personnel of the Group and also spearheads the corporate planning/financial services. He is a member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee of the Company.

He is the son of Dato' Shun Leong Kwong who is the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Menang Corporation (M) Berhad.
