My wish list is to turn all three biz segments - Energy, Technology and IT - to profitability. Then to IPO list them while Dnex maintains control of the majority shares.

Well said but just to add. Patience and “knowing when to sell”.

Folks, to make money in stocks, you need to have vision to see them, courage to buy them & patience to hold them. But sadly patience is the rarest of the three.

Price will only move when arbitration case is settled. We were told first quarter 2024 but did not happen. Just taking too long for a resolution.

The lag time between buying into the counter and its entry into KLCI was about 2-3 weeks. It was included in KLCI on 18 December. Similarly there will be lag time between its entry into MSCI and buying from funds. Entry date into MSCI was 29 February.

The share holding issue between Dnex and CGP for Silterra needs to be resolved before the share price can move upwards significantly. There was a massive sell down when this was first announced. If my memory serves me rights I believe Dnex had said they expect the outcome of arbitration know first quarter 2024. Hope it is settled amicably. Than we will see some upward movement.

So if HSR is implemented the same will happen with the SIN-KUL air route. There will some adjustments. And airlines can still survive.
2 months ago | Report Abuse
The airlines are already adjusting to the worldwide situation. More flights to India and China and less to Europe. Good airlines will always survive by reviewing their routes and adding or reducing frequencies as and when required.

I am an advocate of the HSR. When we wanted to build the North South Highway there were many who said expensive and not worth it. Can we live without the North South Highway now? Same with HSR. We need to get the right model and the economic benefits to the country will be enormous. Air travel will still be there. But HSR will give more choices.

Expecting strong recovery post Covid. Good results coming.
2024-01-14 09:08 | Report Abuse
Hence my view is that the Govt must contribute $ to the HSR infrastructure due to the economic benefits. The operator will also then not be burdened by the infrastructure cost. Just my view.
2024-01-14 09:05 | Report Abuse
Building the HSR is not an issue. Ensuring that its operations are sustainable is the issue. The economic benefits surrounding the stations along the route will be tremendous. For JB, the LRT link to the HSR station is a must do. And we will see the economic growth in JB go on an upward trajectory.

GenM is on a profit growth trajectory after Covid era. Should do better in coming quarters. I don’t like related company funds transfer and hopefully this will be the last. Hopefully Empire will also recover to contribute to GenM bottom line although I think this will take some time.

Extract from last qtr results:-
The automotive industry in Malaysia recorded a strong performance during the first nine months of 2023.
As reported by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the total industry volume ("TIV") for the first nine months of 2023 stands at 571,767 units, which is an increase of 11.1% or 57,318 units compared to the same period last year. Based on the trajectory, the TIV for 2023 is expected to achieve the forecast of 725,000 units set by the MAA in July 2023. The upward momentum in the TIV is mainly supported by, among others, high level of backorder bookings, improvement in the automotive industry supply chain environment and new model launches. The Group is maintaining a cautiously optimistic outlook and expects orders to remain strong due to backorder bookings as well as the launch of new models during the year.

Proxy counter for Petronas. Pure oil play. If you believe oil prices up invest in this counter. If not stay clear. Hibiscus started paying dividends recently although the rate is still low as they are still expansion mode.

The first dividend for Hibiscus is a game changer. Hibiscus has fulfilled its statement policy to pay dividends when it can afford. Also hinted profits improve dividends will be better. With oil rising to above USD60 per barrel Hibiscus is on its way to better times.

Hibiscus is a growing company. It still has intention to grow by acquiring new assets and developing existing ones. It does have a dividend policy statement but has not been paying dividends for a few years. I believe dividends will be paid once it matures and has sustainable profits. But for now appreciation of the share price is what everyone looks for. Hopefully it will head back above RM1 with the price of oil in recovery mode.
