MAHB's PSC suits deliberates in court

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) says its passenger service charge (PSC) suit against AirAsia Group Bhd is now being deliberated in court and the process should be allowed to take its due course.

In a statement today, the airport operator reiterated that PSC was a statutory rate fixed by the government.

“PSC affects the economics of the nation's aviation industry. It is imperative to establish clarity on the implementation of the gazetted PSC, the roles and responsibilities of the airlines and airports, as well as the rights of the parties involved,” it said.

MAHB added that the court needed to decide to put the matters to rest, in order for the aviation industry to operate efficiently and competitively, and in compliance with all international aviation standards and regulations.

“It is our normal practice to inform all our shareholders through the Bursa Malaysia announcement of any material matters such as the PSC suit filed on AirAsia as well as their counterclaims notice,” it said.

MAHB said it was continuously engaging with all its key shareholders and would address the Empoyees Provident Fund’ concerns and clarify the matters with the pension fund accordingly.
