Dato' Kamaruddin Bin Hamzah joined the corporate world after a distinguished career with the Royal Malaysian Police, where he retired at the rank of Deputy Commissioner and in the post of Chief Police Officer of Selangor. Dato' Kamaruddin began his carrer in the police force in 1964, steadily rising through the ranks.

During his time in the force, he attended numerous international seminars and courses on traffic management systems, personnel management, crime prevention and other police-related subjects. This included a Special Air Services (SAS) course. During the height of the second emergency, he was appointed to command the elite Police Commando Unit (the Vat 69). As a senior police officer with administrative responsibilities, Dato' Kamaruddin also gained considerable management experience as well as theoretical and practical expertise in crisis management.

He is a holder of several state and federal awards for his contributions to society and for his outstanding service. One of these awards is the Jasa Perkasa Award (JPP) for bravery that he received from Yang Dipertuan Agong in 1968.

Dato' Kamaruddin is a highly respected community leader and holds committee positions in several business and voluntary organisations.
