He started his career in 1966 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held various positions as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador to Vietnam, Ambassador to Austria, Deputy Secretary General I, Secretary General and Chief Secretary to the Government. He retired in 2001 and was made the Chairman of the Employees Provident Fund, a position he currently holds.
