She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from University of Malaya in 1975 and Business Executive Scholar (MBA)(Finance) from ASTON University of United Kingdom in 1986.

YB Dato’ Supiah started her career with the Public Service Department in 1975 and had then served in various capacities in the Department. She was also a Member holding various positions in the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Pulau Pinang.

In year 1996, YB Dato’ Supiah served in the Bahagian Penyelerasan Penyertaan Bumiputera Pulau Pinang, Unit Penyelarasan in the Prime Minister’s Department as the Assistant Director. She then served as the Deputy State Financial Officer for the State of Penang in year 2001. She was the Deputy Secretary in the State Secretariat Department in year 2004 and was promoted as State Financial Officer of Penang in April 2006 until May 2009.
