Until Ali bin Adai's retirement on 31 March 2013, he was employed with CIMB Bank as the Regional Director for East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak). He was responsible for managing 29 bank branches and for developing CIMB's retail, commercial and enteprise banking businesses in East Malaysia. During his career with CIMB, he was extentively involved in arranging financng for the oil palm plantation industry in Sabah and Sarawak. He also assisted in the development of CIMB's corporate banking business and was responsible for liaison with the Sarawak State Government.
