Working Experience
He started his career as an Assistant Plantation Manager. In 1971, he articled for the Malaysian Association of Certified Public Accountants with a firm of Chartered Accountants and Certified Public Accountants for 1 1/2 years and in 1974, he left for England to read Law. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 1978 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1980. In September 1980, he started his own legal practice under the name of Mohd Akhir & Partners. He also sat on the Board of several private limted companies and has served as a member of a State Development Corporation and sat on the Board of its subsidiary companies.
