He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 1983.

He joined Messrs Hanafiah Raslan & Mohamad as an auditor after training with Hardcastle Burton, an audit and accounting firm in London, England. In 1993, he began his specialisation in Governance and Internal Audit when he headed the Group Internal Audit Department of Oriental Bank Group. In 2001, he was contracted to develop Total Internal Audit for Jerneh Asia Berhad. In 2005, he set up LBO Corporate Consultants which provides Corporate Advisory Services. He has also worked for Hume Industries, Global Union Group, Westmont Industries Group and the Antah Group.
