Dr Aimi Zulhazmi commenced his career as a credit analyst in 1993 when he joined Standard Chartered Bank corporate banking division in Penang. He moved up to a number of multinationals, namely Mobil Oil and British Petroleum in the field of planning, sales, marketing and business development.

In 2004, he was appointed as the CEO/Principal Officer of BIMB Trust Ltd, a subsidiary of Bank Islam located at Labuan Offshore. The six-year stint gave him strategic lessons in corporate experience and significantly exposed him to the international offshore trust and financial industry. He built extensive network internationally and later set up his own international business advisory based in Jakarta from 2010 to 2014 to capitalise on the regional business. As a management consultant, he continued to build his expertise and network in the field of corporate finance, Islamic finance, wealth management, corporate merger and acquisition as well as offshore jurisdiction company and trust planning.  

With over 25 years of corporate experience, Aimi Zulhazmi joined University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) as Associate Professor in 2015 to share his knowledge in bridging the gap between the industry and the academic world.  The stint allows him to reflect and write his ideas, resulting in a number of text books and journals in various areas from Islamic finance, corporate finance, marketing, digital marketing, insurance and entrepreneurship. Dr Aimi is also highly sought after by the mainstream media for his views on economic issues and financial market. He is still engaged by companies as corporate business advisors.
