Working Experience
YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Dr Lee Lam Thye worked as a Temporary School Teacher and a Trade Unionist before entering politics in 1969. He was elected State Legislative Assemblyman for Bukit Nenas, Selangor from 1969 to 1974 and served as a Member of Parliament for Kuala Lumpur Bandar from 1974 to 1990. He retired from politics in 1990.
He has been a member of the National Economic Consultative Council (NECC) and Chairman of Working Committee on National Unity and also member of the Malaysian Human Rights Commission from 2000 to 2002.
Presently, he is the Chairman of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Vice Chairman of the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation and the Vice President of PEMADAM. He is a member of Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory Board and the Royal Commission on Royal Malaysian Police. He is also Chairman and member of Trustee Board of various foundation and charitable organisations. From 1986 to 2002 he has received various awards for his contribution to society.
In the private sector, he serves as a non-executive Director to a few companies including Arab-Malaysian Corporation Berhad, SIME UEP Properties Berhad, MBM Resources Berhad, FFM Berhad and Media Prima Berhad
