Dato' Mohd Shukri had served the Royal Malaysian Police for 37 years and had held important positions at state level including Chief Police Officer ("CPO") of Terengganu (2008 - 2010), CPO of Perak (2010 - 2013) and CPO of Selangor (2013 - 2014). In 2014, he retired as CPO of Selangor with the rank of Commissioner of Police.

Dato' Mohd Shukri also serves as the Chairman of the Senior Police Officers Association, whose primary function is to address issues related to the welfare and service of police personnel.
