Dato' Dr. Thillainathan A/L Ramasamy ("Dato' Dr. Thillainathan") holds a Class 1 Honours in Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Malaya, obtained his Masters Degree and PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia.

Dato' Dr. Thillainathan has been with the Genting Group since 1989. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the Company from 27 November 2002 to 9 September 2006 and retired as Executive Director on 30 July 2007. He also sits on the Boards of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad, Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs Berhad and Public Investment Bank Berhad. Dato Dr. Thillainathan has extensive years of experience in finance and banking. He is the past President of Malaysian Economic Association.

Pursuant to Section 59(11)(c) of the Companies Act, 2016, his spouse and children collectively hold 623,000 ordinary shares and 155,750 warrants in Genting Berhad whilst his spouse holds 10,000 ordinary shares and 2,000 warrants in Genting Plantations Berhad.
