Dato' Tan is a Certified Public Accountant and was admitted to the membership of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1980.
Working Experience
Between 1975 to 1981, he was employed in the Kuala Lumpur office of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, then known as Price Waterhouse. He then joined UMW. In 1983, he joined Guinness Malaysia Berhad as Assistant Chief Accountant. Following the merger between Guinness Malaysia Bhd and Malayan Breweries (M) Sdn Bhd, he was transferred to Malayan Breweries Limited in 1991 (which later changed its name to Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd) and worked in various executive capacities as well as in various regional offices in the group. His last position held was that of Regional Director based in Singapore with responsibility for the brewery operations in China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar. In March 2001, he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd ("F&NHB") group.
He was appointed to the Board of F&NHB on 24 May 2001.
