Working Experience
He started his professional career in 1995 as an Accountant/Auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, UK for a period of 2 years. He then returned to Kuala Lumpur in 1997 and joined Arthur Anderson & Co as an Assistant Manager in Audit and Business Advisory. After a total of 5 years in audit, he joined RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Bhd in 2000 as Assistant Manager in its corporate finance department executing IPOs and M&As.
Subsequently, he joined Sarawak Shell Berhad as a Principal Sector Planner of Business Planning in Miri, Sarawak for 2 years before being posted to Shell Regional Exploration & Production, Singapore as a Senior Business Analyst. His main role in Singapore was to set up the regional Asia Pacific hub for Shell exploration and production businesses. During this period, Nik Rizal also assumed the role of Head of Planning and Economics for Shell Deepwater Borneo Ltd, Brunei, submitting annual business and financial plans for that production block. In early 2007, he was sent to Shell Corporate Global HQ, London, United Kingdom as a Senior Downstream Financial Analyst for Shell’s Global Lubricants and B2B businesses.
Prior to joining Khazanah, he was with Shell Malaysia Limited as Finance Manager in Special Projects. He is currently the Director of Investments, Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) since April 2011.
