He held various executive positions in the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited and its finance subsidiary, the Oversea-Chinese Finance Company Berhad between 1969 and 1994. He was appointed Executive Vice President and Director of the OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad in 1995, a post he held until his retirement in April 2000.
