Tan Sri Jamaludin has more than 40 years of experience, including about 16 years in IT and 23 years in telecommunications. He has also been involved in many other areas especially in education. He is currently the Chairman of QSR Brands (M) Holdings Berhad.
 
He has retired from Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata) on 31 December 2020. He was the Managing Director/President & Group Chief Executive Officer of Axiata for almost 13 years since its inception in 2008. He was a Board member of Axiata and Chairman of Celcom Axiata Berhad. He continues to be a Board member of PT XL Axiata in Indonesia and Axiata Foundation. 

He joined Axiata after more than 10 years with Maxis Communications Berhad since 1997. He was made the Chief Operating Officer the same year and the Chief Executive Officer a year later until he retired in 2007. He led Digital Equipment Malaysia as its Managing Director from 1993 to 1997. Prior to that, he spent about 12 years in IBM (1981-1993). 
 
His career began in 1980 as a lecturer in Quantitative Methods at California State University, USA. He has served as a board member of GSMA, the worlds biggest Mobile Association for 6 2-year terms (2003-2020) and was the Deputy Chairman in 2014. He had also served as a director at an IT solutions provider, Heitech Padu Berhad (2000-2006).

He has served the Government in many roles. In March 2020, he was appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia as a member of the country's Economic Action Council. In November 2020, he was appointed as a member of Digital Economy Council and 4IR by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia. He was involved in education in various capacities including as a board member of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (2006-2008) and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (2007-2011). He had served as a member of the Board of the government owned venture capital company, Mavcap Bhd (2001-2005) and few others.
