Working Experience
He graduated from University Malaya in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts.

He started his career as a civil servant immediately following his graduation. During his 10 years of service as Administrative & Diplomatic Service Officer, he was first assigned to Ministry of Home Affairs as an Assistant Secretary to the Ministry in charge of National Registration, Prevention of Crime and Secretary to Police Service Commission for the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above. At the Ministry he was gazetted as a 2nd Class Magistrate and at the same time represented the Ministry on the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia.

In 1979 he was approached to join the Petroleum National of Malaysia (PETRONAS). During his 25 years’ service with PETRONAS, Datuk Abdullah was exposed to both upstream and downstream activities as well at its operating unit level. He started his career in the corporate world as the Head of HR Planning & Recruitment and moved on to other areas covering almost the whole spectrum of oil & gas management. After one year of service with PETRONAS Head Office, he was assigned to a newly formed upstream company, Carigali-BP (a joint venture company between PETRONAS Carigali and British Petroleum Development Company, UK) for exploration & production of oil, offshore Kudat, Sabah, followed by postings to other outfits including area office, regional office and subsidiaries in various capacities.

Prior to Mac 2015, he was the Secretary of Malaysian Petroleum Club (MPC) and tasked to head its operation.
