He was the President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Malaysia Division from 1976 to 1993 and Council Member of CIMA, United Kingdom from 1990 to 1996. He was awarded the CIMA Gold Medal in recognition of his outstanding service to the accounting profession. Presently, he is a trustee and Board member of the Malaysian Accounting Research Foundation and a member of the MIA Editorial Board.
