He started his career in accountancy in July 1981 as an audit trainee with a local accounting firm, Goonting & Chew in Johor Bahru. In March 1984, he joined another local accounting firm, Syarikat C H Kam as an audit assistant and remained there until May 1991. He then took up the position of audit semi-senior with Yeo & Associates, Johor Bahru in June 1991 and subsequently in January 1997 was made a partner of the Firm. On 1 March 2002, he left to establish his present firm, JK David & Co., Chartered Accountants, of which he is the Chief Executive.
