He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA), having worked for a number of Chartered Accountancy practices in the United Kingdom from August 1986 to January 1995. In February 1995 he joined the Corporate Finance Department of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad ("CIMB") (where he was involved in the listing of Eupe Corporation Berhad on Bursa Malaysia Securities in 1997). He left CIMB after 21 years in March 2016  as a Managing Director of the Equity Capital Markets Department and is presently an Executive Director of ZJ Advisory Sdn Bhd.
