Mr Sim began his professional career as an Audit Assistant with Kasim Chan & Co upon his graduation.  From 1981 to 1983, he was a group internal auditor with Kim Chuan Seng Holdings, an investment holding company with interests in timber operations, manufacturing and real estate development. 

Subsequently, he joined AmInvestment Bank in 1983 in line functions and progressed to managerial positions in leadership roles. He stayed with the banking group until 2012. His last position held was as Director in charge of the Sarawak Region, responsible for investment banking activities from corporate lending, public listing, mergers & acquisitions, debt capital market, private banking, treasury and equity broking.

In 2012, he entered a 3-year service contract with Kenanga Investment Bank as Executive Director, East Malaysia.
Presently, he is with Graphene Sdn BHd as Managing Director, involved in investment and advisory services.  He is also a Director of Radius Avenue Sdn Bhd, a property development company.
