Appointed Chairman of Southern Bank Berhad in October 1990.
He has extensive experience in the public sector having served as a member of the Malaysian Adminstrative and Diplomatic Service for 30 years. Among the posts he held during his tenure were Secretary-General in the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Information and Ministry of Home Affairs. He was also Director-General of the Public Services Department Malaysia from 1980 up to his retirement in 1985.
In 1985, he was appointed National Executive for Malaysia and Brunei of the General Electric Technical Services Co Inc. (USA) and subsequently as National Advisor to the General Electric International (USA) in 1988 until 1993.
In 1987, he was appointed as a Member of the Advisory Panel established under Section 31A(2) of the Central Bank Malaysia Ordinance 1985.
He is a member of the Court of Fellows of the Malaysian Institute of Management and is currently its Vice-President.
