He is a professional engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a member of the Institute of Engineers, Malaysia and a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

Mr. Phang was appointed to the Board of Grand Sepadu (NK) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Jejak Melewar Sdn Bhd) on 19 September 2012. He has more than 30 years of experience in various fields in engineering consultancy, construction, management, operations and investments.
