Dato' Tan Guan Cheong holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Otago University, New Zealand, majoring in Economics, Marketing Management and Accountancy. Dato' Tan is a Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) since 1983. He has worked in international audit firms overseas and also in Malaysia. He was the Managing Director of Orix Leasing Malaysia Berhad from November 1988 to May 1999. He has extensive experience in the field of financial services and was one of the longest serving senior members of the leasing fraternity in Malaysia.
