Mr. Leong Wai Yuan graduated with a Bachelor in Materials Engineering (Honours) from the University of Malaya in 1999 and Master in Business Administration (Finance) of Charles Sturt University, Australia in 2003.

Mr. Leong Wai Yuan began his career as a Product Manager at Armitage Shanks Sdn Bhd and later known as Sanitec Johnson Suisse Sdn Bhd in 1999 where he served for two (2) years. At the end of 2001, he left Sanitec Johnson Suisse Sdn Bhd to join Toshiba Sales & Services Sdn Bhd as a Marketing Manager for Audio/Visual product group. In 2005, he left Toshiba Sales & Services Sdn Bhd to join BlueScope Steel Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a leading company in coated steel manufacturing for the building and construction industry as Market and Business Development Manager until 2008 where, he was promoted to Vice President of Sales for BlueScope Lysaght Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of BlueScope Steel Malaysia Sdn Bhd. In 2009, he was brought back to BlueScope Steel Malaysia Sdn Bhd to serve as a Vice President responsible for Malaysia's strategy and marketing. Subsequently in 2011, he moved to BlueScope Engineering System Sdn Bhd a subsidiary company of BlueScope Steel Malaysia Sdn Bhd, where he was promoted to General Manager. During his time in BlueScope Engineering System Sdn Bhd, he was responsible for the financial performance of the company and leadership of entire operations of BlueScope Engineering System Sdn Bhd.

Subsequently in 2013, he joined REI Group as a Group Chief Operating Officer, where he was responsible for the overall financial and operations performance of REI Group before being promoted to the position of Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer in 2015. As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of REI Group, Mr. Leong Wai Yuan continues to lead and manage the financial and operating performance for all subsidiary companies and core business of REI Group including people performance, manufacturing efficiency and costs, market and business development growth.

In 2017 Mr. Leong Wai Yuan is promoted to Chief Executive Officer of REI Group.
