Stock prices in the MQ Trader Stock Chart can be shown in 2 modes:
By default, we adjust our historical price data to remove gaps caused by Dividends, Bonus Issues, Share Splits and Consolidations. That may cause our charts to look different from other services that do not perform the same adjustments.
For example, if a stock splits 2-for-1, the price is suddenly half of what it used to be, creating a large gap down on the chart. If you were unaware of the split, the chart would give you the impression that something bearish happened to the underlying company. In addition, most of the technical indicators on that chart would give sell signals because of the big drop in prices. Even though such a split is generally considered a neutral event, an unadjusted chart would contain lots of bearish signals.
In order to prevent these kinds of misleading signals from appearing on our charts, we adjust all the historical data prior to the event. In the case of a 2-for-1 split, we divide all of the historical prices for the stock by 2 and multiply all of the historical volume by 2, so that the bars prior to the split match up smoothly with the bars that appear after the split.
A Trade Signal is a trigger for action, either to Buy or Sell a security, generated by combinations of technical analysis and intelligent algorithms. Below are the list of Trade Signals available from the MQ Trader platform, with simplified explanations on how the signals are generated.
There are endless possibilities when coming up with a trade signal, but traders tend to just focus on variations of a few simple strategies that work for their selected stocks.Traders can also combine the various signals and chart duration (e.g. Daily, Hourly, 30-minutes), and form their own decision on using the signals to buy or sell a stock.
We welcome feedback from traders on the trade signals and features of the MQ Trader platform. If you are a professional trader and would like to discuss with us on customization of your trading signals or possible collaboration with our group, please send a message to admin@mqtrader.com
