Session 1 • Economic Outlook: Macro Outlook 2022 - Bumpy Road With Policy Turns Ahead The global recovery continues although risks linger mainly due to uncertainties related to the emergence of new COVID-19 virus variants, prolonged supply chain disruptions, elevated inflation, and potential disruptions in financial markets as major central banks embark on monetary policy normalisation. While Omicron is a key risk, we think the end-goal of reopening economies and expanding travel lanes have not changed materially, perhaps only delayed and at a more cautious pace if this variant is found to be more dangerous.
