Because if one year you lose big such as a loss of 59%, it would normally take 10 years for you to recover to the original position.
So for investor who makes 20%, -2%, 15%, 8%, -3%, +30% each year is much better off than investor who makes 50%, -40%, +80%, -60%, +5%. |
