my cost price is 6.16

i bought Orient many years ago, sometime around 2014 i think at 5++, sold within a year at 9++

3iii said orient is a value trap. i dont mind waiting 10 or 20 years for value to emerge. coz i know Orient is worth more than RM15.

Icon8888 Sometime no need to think too much. Just dumb dumb hold

To be honest my stake not big so I don't mind if it is not very sexy

Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" abeerdeen dumped their shares as they ran out of patience. end of day fund managers have to correct their underperformance. they cant afford to be like us, holding 10 or 20 years. orient, in terms of share price, has been trading within a tight range for years.

tengts57 Aberdeen n EPF disposing yet price increasing. Who is buying?
27/02/2019 2:01 PM
klchai123 cash and cash equivalent exceeded 4.3 billion, implies cash per share of rm7. just wait for 2018 audit and the ginal dividend announcement in April
01/03/2019 8:10 AM
kahhoeng While Oriental cash and equivalent is approximately 4.4 billion, it does have borrowing, short- and long-term, totalling 1.9 billion. So, Oriental's net cash and equivalent is only 2.5 billion, still a very sizeable number, that's equivalent to approximately 4.00 per share!
05/03/2019 6:01 PM
klchai123 should declare dividend this week based on previous yr practice. further declaration of dividend expected end of April when 2018 audited acs are ready for AGM
10/03/2019 8:31 AM
klchai123 declared 6 sen 2nd interim dividend as expected. the more excited one should be end of April.
11/03/2019 7:21 PM

10/04/2019 10:19 AM
kahhoeng 0.40 dividend per year for 2 years straight. Hope this will be the minimum dividend going forward, hurray!
10/04/2019 10:25 AM
Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" i believe they can even increase the payout if they want to. cash is piling up. very healthy FCF generation.

Kky Chance to limit up... Too cheap
23/07/2019 10:13 PM
Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" oriental is one big lazy dinasaur. but with annual dividend of 40sen, you are getting above 6% yield. defensive stock for one's portfolio.
24/07/2019 3:54 PM
kahhoeng Aberdeen is holding more than 5% of Oriental and its selling the shares in the market...

Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" a lot of funds are losing patience.

but at current price, it's a very nice yield
11/09/2019 5:01 PM
kahhoeng anybody knows if the 0.12 dividend an increase from last year or just combining the two 0.06 dividend into one single payment? thanks!
07/10/2019 8:11 PM
yangxi no.. this qtr dividend increase . 0.12c !! compare last yr qtr is 0.06c
09/10/2019 12:52 PM
kahhoeng yangxi, that's why I am asking, cause it used to be 0.06 with another 0.06 payable early next year, followed by another 0.28 final dividend (well, not used to, but for 2 years, much less before this). If the trend is what it is, we would be looking at more than 0.40 dividend for FY19 then. Sigh, forgot about the AGM and didn't attend this year, would have better idea had I attended...
09/10/2019 9:21 PM
Jacklew Good yield at current price it seems.
10/10/2019 12:43 PM
pierre69 i bought some at RM6.47 - keeping for long term
05/12/2019 3:59 PM
meerkat0078 Can buy and keep - they do have palm oil plantations in Indonesia as well. If CPO price has increased, their results should be better for the next Q.
22/12/2019 11:31 AM
Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" Aberdeen is still selling. perhaps partly explain why the share price hardly move

actually, the company can create more value to shareholders. their net cash position is 60% of market cap

they should initiate some buy back, increase dividends or even seek acquisitions with such big hoards of cash
09/01/2020 10:55 AM
Endgame Why Aberdeen is selling if it is good stock? Or they know any hidden bad news?
10/01/2020 1:03 PM
drakoryn they have been selling for the last 3 years, think no bad news, just became impatient
13/01/2020 4:39 PM
Fabien "The Efficient Capital Allocater" funds cannot afford to be patient. they can't afford to have capital lock in for years while stock is not performing and the fund is underperforming relative to its benchmark

there is no catalyst in sight. no value creation situation to unlock the value

as a retailer, we can afford to have bit more patience. the way i see it, it's yield of 6% at 6.50 is attractive enough. my capital is not earning nothing. it's better than FD but of course one has to decide the risk reward situation relative to your appetite

my view is that the net cash of 60% should give a cushion to downside risk

take care of downside, and let upside take care by itself
