![]() stteck https://paultan.org/2019/08/13/government-vehicle-fleet-tender-attracts-big-names/ 17/08/2019 1:11 PM Black Swan Antifragile a lot of funds are losing patience. but at current price, it's a very nice yield 11/09/2019 5:01 PM kahhoeng anybody knows if the 0.12 dividend an increase from last year or just combining the two 0.06 dividend into one single payment? thanks! 07/10/2019 8:11 PM kahhoeng yangxi, that's why I am asking, cause it used to be 0.06 with another 0.06 payable early next year, followed by another 0.28 final dividend (well, not used to, but for 2 years, much less before this). If the trend is what it is, we would be looking at more than 0.40 dividend for FY19 then. Sigh, forgot about the AGM and didn't attend this year, would have better idea had I attended... 09/10/2019 9:21 PM meerkat0078 Can buy and keep - they do have palm oil plantations in Indonesia as well. If CPO price has increased, their results should be better for the next Q. 22/12/2019 11:31 AM Black Swan Antifragile Aberdeen is still selling. perhaps partly explain why the share price hardly move actually, the company can create more value to shareholders. their net cash position is 60% of market cap they should initiate some buy back, increase dividends or even seek acquisitions with such big hoards of cash 09/01/2020 10:55 AM Endgame Why Aberdeen is selling if it is good stock? Or they know any hidden bad news? 10/01/2020 1:03 PM drakoryn they have been selling for the last 3 years, think no bad news, just became impatient 13/01/2020 4:39 PM Black Swan Antifragile funds cannot afford to be patient. they can't afford to have capital lock in for years while stock is not performing and the fund is underperforming relative to its benchmark there is no catalyst in sight. no value creation situation to unlock the value as a retailer, we can afford to have bit more patience. the way i see it, it's yield of 6% at 6.50 is attractive enough. my capital is not earning nothing. it's better than FD but of course one has to decide the risk reward situation relative to your appetite my view is that the net cash of 60% should give a cushion to downside risk take care of downside, and let upside take care by itself 13/01/2020 4:49 PM kahhoeng To my understanding, Aberdeen is selling because investors are pulling funds out of Aberdeen, causing them to sell for their redemption. Puzzling as to why EPF is selling though, my best guess would be a need to declare 'profit' by selling what's profitable yet not very promising, in this case, Oriental. 26/02/2020 8:48 PM Nighelanghelo this company will cut dividend when recession comes (see 2009-2012) target $4 22/03/2020 11:14 PM Karlos From the perspective of net asset backing per share, this counter appear cheap if you are in the position to influence or control the running of the company. However the company is fully controlled by one group of shareholders. No way any body be it institution or individual can have any influence of the future of the company. So we are not surprised that institutional share holders are not keen to be strategic investors. 08/04/2020 9:43 AM RainT Even it have huge cash pile but share price is control by some people from year 2015 to year 2019, share price stuck at the same range 16/04/2020 7:45 PM Black Swan Antifragile you are not far from the truth. but at this price, net cash is >80% of market cap. 16/04/2020 8:19 PM Thinkcarefully Its ok if share price stucked at the same range if dividend yield is more than 5% 17/04/2020 1:50 PM Black Swan Antifragile there are many ways to diversify your capital. on top down basis, you have your asset allocations. from there, zooming in to equities portfolios, you have diversification by sectors. of course, you will have different stocks in different sectors. alternatively, you could choose to invest in conglomerates such as Oriental. if you are looking for a defensive play, a company that is backed by huge cash pile (80% of market value), plantations lands that are carrying at cost value, hotels, hospitals, etc., you are looking at a real bargain here. Let's look at some financial metrics. NTA is at RM11 backed by huge tangible assets. Dividend yield is at 7% (twice of risk free rate MGS 3.5%). Cash yield at a whopping 10% (yes, it's a cash generating machine). Implying a Price over FCF of 10x. EV/EBIT is only 3x, giving you earnings yield of whopping 35%. Of course, its ROE is low at 5% due to huge cash pile. Looking at a more reliable measure of its capital structure, its ROIC is at 16.5%. it's a low beta stock, not one for the high risk takers 21/04/2020 7:57 PM RainT @fabien but this share price just could not move up so how to make money frm buy ORIENT? 28/04/2020 6:41 PM Black Swan Antifragile why cannot make money from Orient? the yield itself is at 7% and when the valuation itself revert to its historical mean you are easily looking at upside of 30% 28/04/2020 7:19 PM tradeview My Long Term Value Pick 2020 - Oriental Holdings Bhd. https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/tradeview/2020-05-06-story-h1506913121-_Tradeview_2020_Long_Term_Value_Pick_A_Gift_For_The_Next_Generation_Ori.jsp 06/05/2020 1:03 PM Black Swan Antifragile thanks for the article. i myself too rate Oriental as a long term investment, up there with the likes such as Hong Leong Industries, the undervalued and underappreciated gems. 06/05/2020 2:42 PM zhangliang Newbies wont like Oriental cause 2 slow & not power like those penny stocks. Young people nowadays like fast & furious, cryptocurrency, money game. Tats y company like these remains hidden gem. 07/05/2020 3:58 PM golok47 what r the directors doing not taking care of the shareholders no bonuses no right issues r they keeping the company to themselves 13/05/2020 1:06 PM golok47 might as well delist the company since the company is cash rich n take it private 13/05/2020 1:08 PM Black Swan Antifragile slow and steady i bought 5.00 exactly a month ago. now 5.70, >13% return in a month who says can't make money in Orient 21/05/2020 3:50 PM Ryan Tan The Board of Directors of OHB is pleased to declare a Final Single Tier Dividend of 8 sen per ordinary stock and a Special Final Single Tier Dividend of 10 sen per ordinary stock in respect of the financial year ended 31 December 2019, subject to stockholders' approval at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting. Dividend yield for the yield exceeding 5% pa consider attractive. 25/05/2020 11:50 AM Ryan Tan April 2020 Malaysian vehicle sales drop nearly 100% https://paultan.org/2020/05/22/april-2020-malaysian-vehicle-sales-drop-nearly-100/ 31/05/2020 11:41 AM NPRA1985 United Arab Emirates Claims China’s Sinopharm Vaccine Is 100% Effective At Preventing Moderate And Severe Covid-19 TOPLINE The experimental vaccine developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group, also known as Sinopharm, is 86% effective at preventing Covid-19 infection and 100% effective at preventing severe and moderate disease, health officials from the United Arab Emirates announced Wednesday, although with scarce detail provided about the trial. The UAE health ministry cited an interim analysis of a late-stage clinical trial involving 31,000 volunteers as the source of its information, though neither they nor Sinopharm provided any data from the trial to validate the claims such as how many participants were infected or how many actually received the vaccine. The ministry said “no serious safety concerns” were observed, though, again, no information on side effects was provided. The ministry said the announcement is a “significant vote of confidence by the UAE’s health authorities in the safety and efficacy of this vaccine.” The ministry added that it had officially registered the vaccine at the request of the manufacturer, which it says could eventually lead to the shot’s widespread authorization. https://www.forbes.com/sites/roberthart/2020/12/09/united-arab-emirates-claims-chinas-sinopharm-vaccine-is-100-effective-at-preventing-moderate-and-severe-covid-19/?sh=2a60fb42595ca 10/12/2020 12:24 AM ![]() ![]() | |
