Good article. I think o&g industries are a bit complicated:
Points to ponder.
1. Rapid more oil inclined or gas inclined?
2. If oil, more inclined to sweet or sour?
3. If gas inclined, more ??? as I don't have more knowledge to comment.
4. Source of supplies from peninsular or sabah or sarawak or elsewhere?
5. Since Rapid consist of many new chemical plant, what maintenance is needed?

I agreed we should look at long term, more than 3 years for any major maintenance opex allocation? Which counter will actually benefitting? I think I will keep on pondering and read up some answer??
Trade at own risk and happy trading.

Good question BLee

I think those working in Oil and Gas industries can give a clearer answer

Let me do my best

1. A refinery needs crude more than gas

2. And sour crude over sweet crude as there is more to extract and value add.

3. In Spore there is a pipe line from Indonesia delivering gas

4. Peninsula produce more crude while Sabah produce more gas
Most of trengganu produce is sweet crude

5. Lots of maintenance job will be needed in Rapid. Because this industry needs 24 hourly and 365 days monitoring

Which counter will actually benefitting?

I picked Pantech because Pantech already has a warehouse in Pengerang and its Jb Hq is only 80 km away in Pasir Gudang

Pantech has a stock of 30,000 types of pipes, valves and other ready stock for emergency repair or replacement

I also picked Dialogue because it has storage tanks to receive Crude oil from huge Supplies from Saudi oil tankers docking there

All 55 million barrels of crude from Saudi will pass through Dialog storage first before injecting into the Refinery

AND then the finished product?
Dialog has expanded to Tg Langsat by renting lands from Johor Corp to build more storage tanks

Dear sifu calvintaneng,
DIALOG is edi in the same league as:

QL, HARTA, TOPGLOV, DIALOG, PCHEM, PBBANK, HLBANK, NESTLE, F&N, CARLSBG, PANAMY, AJI, PADINI n etc ...

All these forever best growth stocks in Msia r highly cyclical. They all have their own respective biz yrs to grow.

Many had gone over the best yrs recently n inevitably would have to go down too in prices n or sideways for years (2 to 5). Pick the ones that r abt to grow again...

The current THEME in play is

OnG contractors

in offshore maintenance n upgrading only.

Correct

Focus is on Off shore now as Petronas need to rush for that crucial extra 54.7 million of cruse oil for Rapid

But Dialog already stated they started building for Petrol Chemical in coming phase

In Spore 30 yrs leasehold land on Jurong Island now sells for over Rm1,400 psf

So if Dialog just sell for only 30% of Singapore value it wiull be Rm1,400 x.3 = Rm420 psf

And 800 acres mean 800 x 43,560 x Rm420 = Rm14,636,160,000

That will be future gross profit from land sales alone

RM14.6 BILLIONS

Marcum Dialog cannot grow tank terminals internationally as are not competitive as an international epc
08/03/2019 11:48 AM
pamaladu RAPID has capacity to refine oil at 300,000 barrels or 47,619m3 per day.

Phase 1 completed storage 1.3mil m3 todate, additional 0.43mil m3 in progress. If required, can add another 0.57mil m3 in Phase 1.

Phase 2 has total 1.7mil m3 storage capacity

Langsat has total 0.95mil m3 storage capacity.

Total storage now in Pengerang and Langsat will be 4.38mil m3 about 3 months reserve storage to meet RAPID requirements. This has not yet considered storage for petro chemical products, storage for oil already refined or chemical products. They have another 0.4mil m3 storage in Kertih

Assuming storage charges about RM8.50m3/ month Dialog expect to earn gross RM40mil/ month for present storage capacity. They will also operate and maintain Deep Water Terminal 1 and 2A where they will collect berthing charges. They have spent the Capex, so hopefulle EPS will be improved. Phase 3 under negotiation for development of another Terminal, storage and downstream developments.

Dialog also diversify into plant and tank maintenance and most importantly Catalyst Handling Services to improve refinery and chemical production not offered by Serba Dinamik.

I anticipate profit and EPS will be gradually increased though revenue may decrease.

pamaladu Dialog also doing e-business via e-petrol since 2007 but doesn't seem to be successful. Its website states that e-petrol can also be used for welfare :

"Welfare Management - platform and services for the delivery of welfare aide directly to recipients, while offering donors a transparent reporting mechanism to ensure that their donations are received by the intended recipients. The primary payment instrument used is the MyKad"

Now the government is looking for e-vendor to implement its petrol subsidies. Will Dialog be a forerunner?

https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2019/02/461304/implementation-targeted-petrol-subsidies-schedule

Dialog started with EPCC but is now getting competitive with lower profit margin. Dialog is aware of this as stated in their Annual Report, hence EPCC and upstream will be added bonus only to Dialog's business. The management has demonstrated resilient.
10/03/2019 10:34 AM
pamaladu Pengerang 1 - 5 berthing terminals
Pangerang 2 - 12 berthing terminals

say average tanker size 200m, berthing charges RM5/hr

hence, 17 x 200 x 5 x 24 x 30 days = RM12.24mil/ mth
= RM147 mil/ year
Say only only 70% usage = RM102mil/ year gross revenue
10/03/2019 7:54 PM
pamaladu Rotterdam
30 mil m3 independent storage available for 400mil population

Malaysia & Singapore
14 mil m3 independent storage for 3 billion population

Hence, there is a potential growth for independent storage in this region
