Samaiden Shortlisted to Develop a 99.99 MW Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Pasir Mas, Kelantan

Reinforcing Commitment to Advance Malaysia’s Renewable Energy Goals

PETALING JAYA, 30 DECEMBER 2024 Samaiden Group Berhad ("Samaiden"), a renewable energy (“RE”) specialist principally involved in engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (“EPCC”) and assets investment of solar photovoltaic (“PV”) systems and other renewable energy plants, is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Samaiden Sdn. Bhd. (“SSB”), has been awarded a Letter of Notification (“LON”) by the Energy Commission (“EC”) on 23 December 2024 for the development of a 99.99 MW Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant (“LSS Plant”) in Pasir Mas, Kelantan. This achievement underscores Samaiden’s continuous commitment to advancing Malaysia’s renewable energy sector and supporting the nation’s energy transition goals.

The LON was issued on 23 December 2024, formally acknowledging SSB as a shortlisted bidder for the project under the Large Scale Solar 5 (“LSS5”) programme. SSB was selected under Package 3 (30 MW to 500 MW category) based on its competitive bid and fulfilment of the Request for Proposal (“RFP”) criteria. The project reinforces Samaiden’s reputation for delivering large-scale renewable energy solutions.

The LSS Plant, which will have a maximum export capacity of 99.99 MW, is set to contribute significantly to Malaysia’s renewable energy capacity. The project will operate under a 21-year Solar Power Purchase Agreement between Samaiden and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”), ensuring a stable and long-term revenue stream. The plant is scheduled to achieve its Commercial Operation Date (“COD”) by 11 October 2027, marking the date when it will begin supplying electricity to the national power grid.

This project is a testament to Samaiden’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s goal of achieving a 70% renewable energy mix by 2050, and we are eager to bring this initiative to fruition while maintaining our dedication to environmental stewardship.”

This announcement reaffirms Samaiden’s leadership in the renewable energy sector and its ability to secure and execute impactful projects that align with national and global sustainability goals. The project in Pasir Mas, Kelantan serves as another step forward in Samaiden’s journey to strengthen its position as a key player in Malaysia’s renewable energy industry.
