KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): Singapore reported 11,504 new Covid-19 cases as of noon on Tuesday (June 28), comprising 10,732 local infections and 772 imported cases, according to Channel News Asia.

This was the highest in a little over three months, as the last time Singapore reported more daily infections was on March 22, when 13,166 Covid-19 cases were logged.

Also reported was one new fatality, which raised the city-state's coronavirus-linked death toll to 1,410.

CNA wrote that cases tended to increase on Tuesdays, citing Singapore Health Minister Ong Ye Kung's previous reference to such a pattern in a Facebook post in October last year, that numbers would "always spike after the weekends".

Meanwhile, its Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said on Monday that there was no need for Singapore to tighten Covid-19 safe management measures at this stage, though he added adjustments would be made "if need be".

He also said cases were expected to continue rising in the coming weeks.
