KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): The JPJeBid system brought in RM34.29 million in revenue for the government from the auctions of the 'FF' series number plates, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
“The result of the ‘FF’ series is also the highest collection since the online vehicle number plate bidding was offered to the public via the system [which started on April 15, 2019],” Loke said in a press conference on Monday (May 22).
He stated that the series reported the highest participation since JPJeBid was initiated, with some 34,032 bids received.
In particular, the “FF8” plate was secured with the highest bid of RM950,000, followed by “FF9” with RM911,999, “FF3” with RM639,000, “FF2” with RM638,000 and “FF7” with RM633,000.
“The five number plates that received the highest interest were ‘FF199’ with a total of 34 bidders, ‘FF51’ with 32 bidders, and ‘FF155’, ‘FF555’ and ‘FF1688’ with 29 bidders each,” Loke said.
The transport minister dubbed JPJeBid a successful digitisation effort in providing a more transparent platform to the public and increasing revenue for the government.
“Bidding for number plates through the online application is a clear manifestation of JPJ’s (Road Transport Department) efforts to provide digital services to the rakyat in line with the Public Sector Digitalisation Strategic Plan 2021-2025,” Loke said.
“The JPJ will continue to strive to expand and strengthen its digital services to deliver the highest level of service to the rakyat,” he added.
The bidding period for the ‘FF’ series number plates ran from May 14 to 19.
