Short-selling : A new experienced student of mine told me that some counters could be 'short'. Shorting means the opposite of what we normally do in KLSE. It means we sell first, buy back later. As far as I know, we could not do that. But, yes ... a friend of mine working in bank(and was a trader last time) told me about short-selling too. So, I have heard about it but do not find out more about it.

At 2nd of AUG, YTLLand was traded at 1.55 level. Since the market is moving lower and we THINK that YTLLand stock price will go lower, we will like to SELL YTLLand at 1.55. Yes, we are selling a stock we do not own!! IF the stock YTLLand move-up, we will need to buy-back at higher price to CUT our losses!! Yes, it the OPPOSITE of what we used to do - buy first, sell later. But, as we are shorting the stock, we do expect the stock to go lower ... and well, say YTLLand strong support at 1.20, we might want to BUY back at 1.20 and gain the profits of 35 cents.

Since then, it broken its support at 1.20 level, we might want to SELL it again at 1.18 or so, and waiting for it to dive ... and take profits at RM1 level, its next support level. At RM1, we buy-back the no of stocks we sold earlier at RM1.18? That is 18cents profits!!

Do you get it, newbies? Yes, majority of us know what short-selling is but it might be too confusing for newbies. Hence, on MONDAY ... I will short-selling some stocks!!

This becoming very interesting as my readers will start to read buy-sell(long) or sell-buy(short). At the moment, in Malaysia, we could only do such in FCPO and FKLI. These are palm oil and KLCI-future indices. Another choice is to buy put-warrants but due to VERY low liquidity, no one actually look into put-warrants listed in KLSE. Those put-warrants code is XXX-ha. Call-warrants and Put-warrants are very popularly punted in HKSE. Those in US markets, it is called option-trading. I m such a novice that I got badly burnt in trying out call-put warrants in HKSE. Ouch.

Yup, if I never try ... I will never have the experience to share here, right? If I keep sticking to only one instrument, one method, one market or for some one stock only, I could never progress, right?

It is a matter of time I will explore in forex and such. I am too new in financial-markets to understand what these instruments are and how they works. I am still in equity-markets!!

Anyway, short-ing in markets making KLSE more exciting as you could see people like me going opposite directions!! Yeah ... when market crashing, I could profit too!! That is the best part.

My turtles : Keep the 100 stocks in your list and I will slowly show all how to short these stocks when market crashing, ok? Let me try it out first next week!! Wish me luck. Haha.
