I do need to reflect and think of ways I could teach more effectively and making my 'turtles' learn well too. Two main factors I was thinking about when I started to SUGGEST to my interested readers to learn 'trading'. Look ... I am NOT from TA-school ... tho I prefer to teach basic TA. You are 'safe' if you are only guiding them on the basic levels.
Time Frame and Cost : My trading class is designed to be continuous. I DO NOT believe that a person could learn in days. I do not favour those 3/4 days of trading classes. I mean, it is left to the so-called graduates from the courses to do the follow-up. LOOK ... let us be FRANK here.
We paid few thousands for a good course. No doubt the course is GOOD. In fact, some are excellent!! I am not a promoter or do I want to write anything 'bad; about some courses being offered. I do know mine is RISKY as it is more like a 'learner' teaching another person to learn!!
So, after we paid a few thousands for the 'professional' courses of trading. Fine. We were bombarded with those technical jargons and LOOK ... if you are NEW to technical, or worse-case if you are NEW to markets ... it is IMPPOSIBLE for you to understand. SERIOUS. Dont believe me, do try out some of the courses available. You could give-up even before you want to continue to learn!! Wait a minute, I am ASSUMING that those who attending courses related to financial/markets WANT to learn. That is a such a rough assumptions as majority of us ... err ... DO NOT have the patience, perseverance and characters to LEARN. It is not their faults, it is NORM and acceptable by Malaysians(our education system is such, ok?).
So, we are in a point where we want to learn what others are talking about and we are 'losing' money. We dont know where to go .. who should we trust and why many charging thousands of RM. We have lost thousands of RM, so ... we thought that if we could spend some another thousands to gain back our losses, we wont mind. Hence, we BELIEVE(or giving us the DREAM as what written in advertisements --- such as 30% profit in less than 2 months, for example) ... these courses will make us RICH ... or at least re-coup back our MONEY spent in attending courses!!
Wrong mentality .. wrong purpose to go into classes. MANY do not understand what learning is all about. Again, it is all down to our education background. We cant talk to a 4D-addict about buying BJToto as a dividend stock rather than INVESTING RM50/week into buying 4D since they dreamt about the NUMBERS clearly, right? This is true .. we all in a point where we THOUGHT education is done with after we obtained our degrees(PhD is like an ultimate kinda thing!). So, once we attended the 3/4-days courses, we are GRADUATES!! Congrats ... blah blah ... sigh, I am such a cynic. Haha.
Going back to TIME-FRAME. As those short few days training is not effective for majority of people who joined those courses(if they want to be frank la), I was thinking ... my classes need to be different. BUT the commitment from my side will be great!! I need to be continuously checking on my students progess.!! Wow!! If I have 10-20 of them under me, ALL my hours will be dedicated to check on their learnings?? Gosh ... and checking on what they are buyings/sellings? IMPPOSIBLE too on my side! Besides, who to tell what to buy/sell which I feel is NOT really possible?
Conclusion ... I designed the class to be fortnightly. It is not possible for a person to understand how to apply MA or RSI in two weeks, actually. Not in two days, of coz. And learning in two hours??!! Serious?? Heck, people just being gullible and not realistic. Wake up ... I am still learning after 2 years of using MA and RSI. Can u believe that? Either I am 'stupid' and slow-learner or others are excellent and fast-learners!!
Where am I?
OK ... my writing here is not organise as I m VERY busy with classes ... and this is not editted. Most of my writings are spontaneous and I do not believe in editting most of the contents!! It is just the way I am writing or jotting here. I am not answerable to many, regarding the bad gramma, shallow vocab or even the contents are un-organise. I am not a full-time stock-market reporter-la. Haha. I have 6 hours of classes today.
Time-frame is my main concern as MAJORITY want to learn things in the shortest of time. No one want to be stupid or slow like me ...imagine that MANY retirees actually attending trading courses because they thought they will be 'free' and nothing much to do after retired - might as well learn some 'skills' to earn some money!!
Example : I attended a CHX course(last May batch), paid RM4k+ for the four day course. The software(charts and scanning systems) is excellent. It is one of a good trader should have. That I totally agreed. But ... the learners there are majority above 45 yr old. As far as I know, not many of those determined late-learners could sustain the motivation in them to LEARN. Again, we need to be realistic ... hence, learning is a slow-painful process while taking our own 'sweet-time'. I suspected majority of those old-traders have lost a lot of MONEY to KLSE after years of listening to rumours(haha ... I have a confession from auntie-turtle. I do have few more in my e-mail list but majority of them, due to EGO, will not admit that!!) ... decided to learn TECHNICAL ANALYSIS. Wow ... that is such an impressive determination. Is that possible? ANYONE really use brain to think before they jump into a course or are these for real?
Really la ... of 20+ in my batch, many of them has 'fizzle' off ... some gave up on the learning. ASK them if they want to be honest-la. How many of them STILL joining the traders meeting? Of coz they are busy or is it lazy due to old-age? Wake-up ... I am sorry to point out again to a nice lady, an English retired teacher that trading using TA is not her cuppa tea. To me, I will shake my head and know it is not really possible. What I am doing is near impossible - without financial/accounting/business background. Trading with a system? Not really possible either as system fails for certain situations!! Without EXPERIENCEs in markets, it is NOT possible!! Do you know what I m trying to say?
I am not saying the chart-nexus software is not good. If we failed, it is because we do not use it in the right way. Ever BLAME yourself rather than the systems or software? Or do you blame the trainer? A pure technical person do not actually care about the fundamentals. They can analyse Ramunia, for example. It is good as they dont have to read news related to Ramunia, they dont have to understand what PN14/GN3 is, they dont have to know what sector Ramunia is in ... or who cares if we are in bear market? Hey, stocks are businesses, ok? We should not be so ignorant and to just check on its technical charts!!
Time frame ... as far as I am concern, we need time to learn. To learn the TERMS used. To learn how these things are related and to understand how a system works or doesnt work. To determine the factors that affecting the systems ... and it takes lots of time to have the 'FEEL' of how market works. It certainly needs time for us to understand ourselves and our actions/re-actions towards markets fluctuations. To understand the psychological part of markets ... etc etc ... I can go on and on ... why TIME is essential. Take the time to learn. DO NOT believe in those get-rich-quick systems or scheme. I considered myself as 'stupid' as I see learning as a process while many of us seeing learning as a destination. As if I know MA and RSI, I can trade well. It doesnt work that way, trust me.
This is one dream come true for many traders - a SURE back-tested system that could give us a SURE win in our trade. All out, man .. this is the time to get rich?
A good trainer will always remind you about RISK. Nothing ... but how to reduce the RISK. I may have done many risky trades as I am still learning. I want to experience the movements of the markets and to understand the mechanism. Simply put, I m gaining more and more experiences in real manner. NOTHING comes in real(such as pain) if we just take it as 'virtual'. I am in trial-n-error basis. So, I do many stupid decisions ... in my trading adventure. It is an adventure, with NO ultimate destination.
All ...if I ever want is to see many more start to educate themselves before thinking of trading/investing. That is also why it could be 'safer' to put our money in FD(mine in ASB ... higher interest) or buying a unit-trust for some professionals to manage our money. Some may diversify into bonds, properties, gold and such.
