My tratles
cohort-1 : EK, PT, BL, LK, AC, HK, MS, RR, PL, SP.
There were 10 of them when I started my first trading class. I was thinking of four modules but after went through the first class, I realised that there are more to talk about and making it a compact 5 modules. We do not believe in 3-days or 4-days short-courses as no one could really learn in DAYS. To learn trading, it will takes months and to be a good trader, it will take years. So, I have classes with them forthnightly, on Friday nights.
We were using a small space(room) and I was teaching 'technical analysis' WITHOUT projector!! They have certainly being very patient with me. So, I was charging RM150 per hours and making sure that it will be RM50-RM80 per person per class. Reflecting on my classes, we struggle to learn together and they have been very nice to me. Yeah ... teaching them trading comes with many difficulties as they are my first class. So much of short-comes.
After finished 5 modules, I planned for meetings. I created a facebook for us to communicate in daily basis.
SP : I have an arguement with him regarding his HWGB. Yeah ... I refused to 'help' him to analyse his chart as it did not satisfy my criteria #2 for a tradable stock. Perhaps I was not tactful enough. I was too blunt. I was not professional but being emotionally engaged with them. Yes, this is a lesson I have learnt. Never get attach to your 'students' even tho you care for them. I should not care. I should just take it as JOB. I should just do it in professional manner and just analyse for him whatever he wants. May be I just should keep my mouth shut when he pointed out that he PAID me money to attend my class. I exploded, instead. Hmm ... good experience on how I should take it next time, dealing with these 'clients'.
PL : She got upset with me writing somethin in my blog which she thought I was speaking about her!! There goes my good aunty-tratle. Yeah ... she was my only aunty-tratle then. And she is a nice lady, but my blog do always talk about aunty-uncle-stocks and some might get offended. I remember her last post in our FB was "I dont care if it is a white cat or black cat, as long as the cat could catch a mice". Yeah ... Mao's quotes. She has habits of buying those aunty-uncles stocks such as Hexagon etc etc ... and was talking about Harvest then. I was upset as I want to protect the group!! Yup, I am protective .. to trade well, we need discipline. If I am going to buy Harvest and such, do I need to learn to trade? In my opinions, my trading strategies will FAIL for these stocks. Being uoset, I posted many aunty-uncles punting stocks here. Teach me how to trade those stocks? I failed to apologise to her and ... lost her from our group too.
TEH : I have apologised to both of them.
The above two incidences making me a stronger cikgu. The other 8 of them are still with me and attended my 3rd meeting last Friday. I have intention to keep them all close together, as a group ... to help each other to do well, learn and share. Yes, we could go far from here as we are doing things different from most trading courses!!
Cohort-2 : YWC, SAM, Zul, Jess, EL, CT.
This is a smaller group and they have to pay more than my cohort-1 individually due to the small number. I was still charging RM150 per hour and they were taking the alternate Friday slots. Yeah, I was planning to combine them with my cohort-1. I bought my projector when I was having my third class with them, I think. Teaching becoming easier!! Yeah ...
Zul : On and off ... he is working in Sarawak and many times could not join us tho he is very eager to learn. So, he did not 'graduate' from the course!!
Batch-1 : SO, I have combined the two cohorts to form Batch-1. We will have meetings in alternate Fridays. Minus off SP, PL and Zul, I will have 13 of them. Bu CCW of cohort-3 since then joined them for meeting too.
Cohort-3 : VA, Jus, DN, NC, RC, SM, WKK, CCW, Lim
I do have 11 attended my first class. An uncle brought a friend. Perhaps he was disappointed that my class is NOT a stock-pick, he 'disappeared'. Yup, my trading class will not be a stock-picking class. It is a class to teach you how to fish ... and we do talk about charts and stocks in our facebook.
Lim As accountant and told me he is very busy in DEC to join(account closing). He will re-join us next year!
WKK : No news from him and been not feeling well the last time I heard from him.
So, with 11 - 2 = 9 left and minusing another 2, I should have 7 of them with me for next week meeting. We shall check how many drop-outs!! Yeah ... I do believe some cannot tahan trading and will quit. I am talking about real trading, not punting into Harvest and boosting in some forums!
Cohort-4 : AL, AT, JL, AW, CO, KS, Woon, MH, MN, WL
MN : He brought a friend and his friend drop-out
EZ : An accountant too ... drop-out as he is too busy.
WL : My younges tratle, just finished her pre-U and going to NZ soon to further her studies. So she wont be joining us in our group. Perhaps, one day ... after she graduates from her accounting degree?
I did not introduce my cohort-3 and cohort-4 here in my blog. But I will ... when those continue with my meetings. I noticed that some(luckily few only la) will drop-out due to personal reasons.
The meetings are meant to answer questions and learn how to analyse using the those indicators. Yes, it is like ... I want to make sure how I see charts, I share with you ... you learn and help others in the group!! It is a support group with me as coordinator. I will also share with them articles I am reading, links and books ... anything at all we could share.
Batch-2 : It will be the combination of my cohort-3 and cohort-4. As the batch is larger than my batch-1, I have to use a bigger room and AL offered to use his office conference room. Thanks AL. We shall check how many of them will be there for our first meeting!!
Tratle, it is a word coined by BL ... and BL has helped me a lot, being our PR of the group, maintaing our facebook!! Yeah ... I do have people from different walk of life. I do have computer experts, business-men, retirees, accountants, bankers, engineers, students ... it is a good mix and we could leverage on each other expertise.
Way of the turtle : I called my trading students in cohort-1 and 2 as turtles. Tratle is a combination of the word trading-turtles, creatively created by BL. Thanks, BL
My own tratle-office : I am planning to have my own office. Yes, it is a matter of time I will have my own training space for my tratles and a lounge for us to lepak, get to know each other and it is closed for them only. Yes, I have improved the learning conditions ... and those in cohort-1 and cohort-2 will see the differences. We started without projector, not even water/drinks provided and no internet connections. Today, we do have all the three basic things in placed. We are still 'floating' and till I get an office, I believe many will appreciate OUR own space. What do you all say, tratles? Hehe ... perhaps I do need everyone to chip-in a little for everyone's comfort. Yeah ... a sofa, a small book-rack with trading-investment books ... subcriptions to many investment sites, magz and articles to be share. All will be placed in my office.
Currently, I am having my own office at home. I do this working-space.
Cohort-5 : Yes, I do have an intention to start cohort-5 now in FEB(after CNY, please). I have 7 enquiries so far. I do hope they could be patient to wait till I get the numbers(12 +). It will be RM250 per hour as by then, learning space and everything is up for them to used. Yup, it will be on SATURDAYS noon 2.30 pm to 5.30pm, alternating with my batch-2 meetings. Those interested, please e-mail me. Thanks.
My e-tratles
Well, I am reaching 50 now. So, those registering next week, I will be charging RM300(not RM270, ok?). I was only aiming for 20 two weeks ago ... today, I have 49 now. The 50th is my colleague who personally booked with me.
It is still open and I will limit it to the first 100. Yup, after that ... I will close the registration and start to concentrate on HOW I could teach trading online!! It is a new experience but hey ... there is always a new beginning for many things we want to do, right? We shall see ...
Time to take a Sunday nap as I will be having dinner with bro/sis(and partners) tonight.
