UMW wins control of Proton?

It is understood that the UMW shareholders' bid is somewhere in the range of RM6 per Proton share.

Shareholders linked to UMW Holdings Bhd, a strategic partner of Toyota Motor Corp, are believed to have won a bid to buy Khazanah Nasional Bhd's stake in Proton Holdings Bhd.

Business Times was told that the UMW shareholders'bid was somewhere in the range of RM6 per Proton share.

It is further understood that the shareholders will eventually make a general offer for Proton via UMW Holdings.

UMW Holdings is majority controlled by Permodalan Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund.

UMW Holdings, however, informed Bursa Malaysia yesterday that it had not submitted any proposal to Khazanah for its 42.7 per cent stake in the national carmaker.

Khazanah spokesperson Mohd Asuki Abas declined comment, while UMW Holdings managing director Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir was not immediately available for comment yesterday.

Besides having a 25-year old relationship with Toyota, the world's largest carmaker by sales, UMW Holdings is the single largest shareholder of Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua), Malaysia's second national carmaker.

UMW Holdings having control over Proton could eventually lead to a merger between both the national car companies.

Such merger makes sense because Proton will find it hard to compete next year when DRB-HICOM Bhd rolls out locally-assembled Volkswagen cars.

The VW cars are expected to be priced in the RM100,000-RM120,000 range, similar to the price bracket of Proton's high-end Perdana model.

Perodua cars are typically priced below the RM70,000 mark and it has a dominant position in the entry level or first-time users market.

A bid at RM6 a share values Proton at RM3.3 billion, which is a steep premium over its current market value of slightly over the RM2.4 billion mark.

It is, however, still much lower than the national carmaker's book value of RM5.4 billion or RM9.84 per share as at end-March 2011

TEH : This is becoming an interesting twist. DRB vs UMW. What is Mahathir's next step for his baby?

UMW drops 5% today due to Proton, the parasite. Note that AirAsia DIVED due to our losing-money parasite MAS leeching on her, no thanks to Tony's decision to 'save' our National's pride. UMW is facing the similar situation now, trying to absorb this parasite-Proton into their good system. You see, this is BUSINESS, man. Get real ... those MAS and PROTON are leeches, infected by so many imcompetence people running the whole companies. Otherwise, HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN that they were the so-called leader, protected by our VERY clean(Malaysis is corrupt free country, for those un-educated and to think otherwise) government and monopolising our roads and air-traffics.

I could get emotional if I need to dig those shit out those suckers. These are real leeches. Those suckers who act as if they are innocent. I read once that the ex-CEO of MAS have few portraits of HIMSELF costing MAS few millions of ringgit!! I have an engineer-friend working with MAS as cool-ly told me how they 'hike-up'(mark up la tu) the prices of the tyres ... up 250%, babe. For example ... tayar biasa harga RM100, kita letak RM250 kat invoice to, pergi claim .. sure approve-la tu. Haha ... my friend is a Malay and was telling me story. That was about 15 years ago.

If we have to dig those shit out of Proton, gosh ... we will be littered with a new sage ... saga, I mean. How stupid can I be ... with those protection(before Perodua lagi tu) they could not come out with ANYTHING innovative since 1985?? Did I get the year right? All those shitting about Lotus, some bloody stupid-idiots about F1 and such. Look ... you dont run business, year in year out giving excuses of losing money. Change that CEO!! someone yelled ... will that help?

It wont ... as lagi-lagi ... their in-competence group of people running the Saga. Never mind ... we have INSPIRA now to inspire our group. How about Persona ... yeah ... sungguh mempersonakan. Haha.

I could rant further ... but my plie of papers staring at me.

By the way, I am driving a Proton-Saga.

With Malaysia-boleh spirit, we do have Proton-boleh too. Buying Proton stock now? It is worth RM6, you see.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton_(automobile)

Do read briefly about our National's car(buatan and model Jepun, Mitshu). Do short survey ... why Malaysians do not buy Proton's car unless they could not afford a car and need a cheap one(like me). If I could afford, do you think I m patriotic enough to drive a Proton? If we have Proton, will they come out with Electron ... one positive needs to balance with one negative element, right? Haha. What a joke!!

How about a Sabah song about Proton? haha.

As trader, I do not predict. We trade the trend. Let the analysts, newspaper and such people do their jobs. As trader, I do not care if it materialised. I m more interested to see how I will catch UMW at current point while selling my Proton. Once proton down, UMW will go up ... these are NOISES to me. Adam, sorry for not replying your comment in my blog. To trade well, read good trading books rather than mixing with those speculate and use your time to learn, not giving predictions. We have those in most forums ... buy-sell etc etc. Cheers.

I think the UMW bid is off. Just read this news this early morning...

UMW denies bid for stake in Proton

2011/12/17

UMW Holdings Bhd yesterday said its major shareholders had not submitted any bid to Khazanah Nasional Bhd or won any bid to buy the latter's stake in Proton Holdings Bhd.

The conglomerate reiterated that it is not in any form of discussion with any parties in this regard.

Yes, Adam. Good trader will manage their risks. To be consistent, we need patience and discipline to LEARN. It takes TIME and PAIN to acquire any knowledge and to learn to apply such. Markets do not move as many speculators think. I repeat, CONSISTENT good trades. Those advertisement of catching 20% in one week is .. err ... let us use BRAIN? We have 80-90% losers out there talking about stocks. Imagine the noises. Technical charts do not lie and taking those noises away. It should be mechanical. Learn that and you will be glad to follow few of my advices. e-mail me or do you want to register for my e-learning? Thanks for your support. I will be glad to guide those who want to learn. Believe me, MAJORITY out there DO NOT want to learn but rather seeking for tips or sure win-recipes. Sigh ... I am so long-winded, bro. Haha.

Basics are important, no doubt but what we need is TA charts/analysis that is able to quickly identify potentially good stocks for trading...

cpteh: Sorry that I should not write nor promote your TA class as it is being unertical but I just aired my views of some reliable TA analysts whom they do hard works and "qualify" being instructor. I have slammed a number of bloggers and remisers asking ppl to signed up their courses (without being prove themselves thru periodical articles and contributions to this websites) and also request them to subscribe to their sites for the tips which is being unprofessional and unertical. Happy trading.

Adam Ryan: Good to enrol in the TA e-learning class. Charts do not lie and hope we shall enjoy in the "fun" and "stress free" e-learning TA class. Cherios till then. Happy trading. GBU.

Adam Ryan

StephenLee...yes chart dun lie, i also have read some books abt TA...but takes many2 years to u to understand clearly abt TA...

2011-12-19 04:01

cpteh

yes, Stephen. I do not like to so-called promote it here or anywhere. it is meant for my loyal readers only. i m an educator, not into business or sales. if those want to learn, they will seek it themselves. sorry to all if i sounded like promoting myself here. how do I delete or un-do those comments?

2011-12-19 10:11

cpteh

adam, it is the APPLICATIONS of TA that we are talking bout. many look into wrong indicators, too many indicators, too complex system to understand etc etc. Perhaps, most looking for the sure-win system which I do not believe in. trading is talking about probabilities, anyway. cheers.
