Covid-19 cases in Thailand continue to dip; only 5,377 infections and 37 deaths recorded on Saturday (May 21)

BANGKOK, May 21 : Thailand's Ministry of Public Health reported on Saturday that in the past 24 hours there are 5,377 new patients who tested positive for Covid-19, two of whom have arrived in Thailand from abroad.

Death toll increased by 37, while 5,775 patients were cured and allowed to leave hospitals.

Cumulative cases in the country since January 1, 2022 are at 2,183,320.

The country’s total caseload from Covid-19 stands at 4,406,755 - 4,318,565 of whom have recovered, 58,475 are still in hospitals and 29,715 have died.

Separately, another 22,199 people were given their first Covid-19 shot in the last 24 hours, 82,396 their second shot and 97,153 a booster, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide to 136,265,374.

According to Worldometer, confirmed cases globally had risen to 526.7 million on Saturday, 496.55 million of whom have recovered, 23.85 million are active cases (38,259 in severe condition) and 6.3 million have died (up by 1,360).

Thailand ranks 24th in the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 84.94 million, followed by India with 43.13 million, Brazil with 30.76 million, France with 29.32 million and Germany with 26.05 million.
