BENGALURU Billionaire Elon Musk launched a poll on social media platform X on Tuesday, asking users whether Tesla should invest US$5 billion in his artificial intelligence (AI) startup xAI.

"Board approval & shareholder vote are needed, so this is just to test the waters," Musk said.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, while xAI could not be reached.

In May, xAI had raised US$6 billion in series B funding, reaching a post-money valuation of US$24 billion.
